HIGH SPEED NEEDLE : 1 TURN OUT (1 HOUR)
LOW SPEED NEEDLE : 1 TURN OUT (1 HOUR)
EXHAUST TEMP (EGT): High reading: 1,100 F TO 1,200 F (593 C TO 648 C) Low reading: 800 F to 850 F (427 C TO 454 C)
The KA does not have a programmed rev limiter and operates well at wide range of rpms. You will generally find yourself between 15,000 and 16,000 rpm. As with any other engine, our advice is to gear for the low speed and see where the high rpms come out. Try to keep you low rpms above 7,500 if possible. If you find yourself needing to gear in such a way that your are going over 16,000 rpm, expect your egt to be at least 1,200. Don’t go higher than that; if you are above 1,200F, adjust your high needle richer in 2 min increments.
